The Skegness Academy plays a key part in the Skegness Schools Partnership, supporting primary schools and the transition for pupils from Year 6 to Year 7 as fully as possible and also in developing a shared expertise between primary and secondary practitioners.
We work together with seventeen primary partner schools currently. All of these schools have access to our Academy facilities and staff expertise; for example, in developing Literacy schemes for pupils. The Academy also delivers PE to fourteen of our partner schools, along with science, mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, music, ICT and technology.
Mrs Silvester, the Principal, holds regular meetings with local Primary Headteachers and other external providers and is keen to continue these constructive and mutually beneficial links. The Academy has already developed working relationships with the Grimsby Institute, Skegness College and Seagull Recycling.
As part of working with the extended community, the Skegness Academy has organised primary sports competitions and festivals for the whole of the East coast. Pupils have also engaged enthusiastically with the local community, raising funds through non-uniform days for charities including RNLI, Diabetes, Macmillan Cancer and Cystic Fibrosis as well as the Rotary Club of Skegness and in 2012 over £10k was raised to buy wheelchairs which were sent to Africa.
