Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

We introduced the Extended Project Qualification in the academic year 2012/2013 whereby we submitted one project which achieved a grade B.

This year we have 10 students doing the qualification. Students use one double of Enrichment each week to complete their wider reading, meet with their mentor and gather evidence.  Students may be offered the opportunity to visit the library at Lincoln University to support with their research and reading.

Students are assigned a Supervisor in school who relates to their topic area. They meet once a week to complete the Assessment Record and Production Log. Students choose their own topic area and write a proposal of what they want to find out from their project.

Projects this year include Marie Antoinette, Anne Boleyn, Fashion, World War II and Gangs in New York during the Great Depression.

The qualification supports Higher Education applications along with our current Ofsted target of promoting independent learning and thinking skills. Furthermore, the qualification is counted in the new performance tables as part of the TechBacc.
