In the Sixth Form, learners are given the opportunity to undertake a Level 2 pathway in BTEC Technical Certificate in Business Administration. This is an exciting step in the world of Business, taking on real life work-based challenges, set within any industry. 

BTEC Level 2 Technical Courses are intermediate qualifications created for post 16 learners who are aiming to specialise in a particular topic or technical role. Such qualifications enable learners to progress onto Level 3 qualifications and beyond.

This course is designed to prepare learners for work in every sector by developing career- based skills such as professionalism, team working, time management, safe working and communication. Alongside these essential skills, the course will also provide learners with the knowledge they need to become competent administrative clerks. 

This course is made of 4 units, 1 externally assessed unit in the form of an online exam and 3 internally assessed units made up through observed working practices and formally written coursework. Throughout units 2-4, there is a clear underpinning of employer involvement, which is designed to enhance classroom-based learning and provide learners with meaningful experiences in preparation for future career and academic progression. 

Unit 1- Understanding Administrative Services

Learners will understand the basic administrative duties carried out within a range of industries. 

Learners will sit an online examination, set and marked by the examining body, Pearson. Duration of the examination is 75 minutes and is worth a total of 60 marks. 

Unit 2- Providing Administrative Services

Learners will implement their prior learning within a work-based scenario. Learners will be set tasks whereby they can demonstrate their competence in the use of various office-based equipment. Formal observations will be carried out to support evidence of their competence alongside written coursework. 

Unit 3- Using Business Technology to Process and Communicate Information

Learners will develop and demonstrate specialist skills in using relevant technology to store, process, handle and share information through the use of data management software and web based technology. Further observations will be made to observe and evidence competency alongside written coursework. 

Unit 4- Planning, Organising and Supporting Business Event 

Students will be given the opportunity to independently organise a business event within this synoptic assessment, which is designed to incorporate all prior learning from Unit 1-3. This unit is assessed through observation witness statements, records of all planning and a written evaluation of their performance.
